Israel
Israel’s largest freshwater lake, the Sea of Galilee welcomes you. This is where Jesus is said to have walked on water which makes it an important religious site. Begin the day at the Mount of Beatitudes, situated to the north of the Sea of Galilee. The Mount is believed to be the location where Jesus gave his ‘Sermon on the Mount’ and the views from the hill are awe-inspiring. Move to Tabgha, another location of a miracle and then to The Church of the Primacy of St. Peter and the Church of the Multiplication. Enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna around these churches. Visit the Beit Shean Archaeological National Park, where you can see the history of Israel and the Galilee Boat Museum that was purposefully built to house and display the boat that sailed the Sea of Galilee around 2000 years ago. Yardenit is next, and it is believed by some traditions to be the actual spot where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Your Destination Expert will be happy to help you, if you wish to partake in a sacred Baptism ceremony in this iconic place. These two days will take you full circle around one of the most beautiful and significant areas around Galilee.

Once you reach Jerusalem, the air of spirituality takes over your senses. First, head to the walled Old City and meander its narrow streets, making your way to the Western Wall, Al-Aqsa mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Stand on the Mount of Olives that overlooks the Old City, standing testament to millennia of history. Stroll inside the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed before he was crucified. Lay eyes on Mount Zion, the highest point in ancient Jerusalem and where The Last Supper is believed to have taken place. Let your expert guide take you through the lanes of Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. As you see this town, visit sacred sites like Chapel of the Milk Grotto, Zacchaeus' Sycamore, Mount of Temptation and much more. Your historic trail is incomplete without experiencing the culture of Jerusalem. Visit the many museums, tantalizing restaurants, bustling markets stocked with spices, breads and nuts and savour some good tea along the way. End your journey with a dip in the Dead Sea. Soak yourself in its hypersaline waters which is one of the natural wonders of the world.
