You will visit key UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the sacred city of Anuradhapura and the rock fortress of Sigiriya. Next, continue through the sacred heart of the island, Kandy, before moving into the highlands stirring the senses as you wind past lush tea plantations, majestic peaks and rushing waterfalls. No trip to Sri Lanka would be complete without a stay in the magical Galle, the most perfectly preserved colonial town in Sri Lanka. Upon arrival in Colombo, the traditional gateway to the orient and the capital of Sri Lanka, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred right away to your hotel by the ocean in nearby Negombo.

Set off inland to the vast ruined city of Anuradhapura, one of the most sacred places in Sri Lankan Buddhism. Hop on bicycles to explore this ancient city. Feel the stillness of the ruined bell-shaped stupas, crumbling temples, and magnificent sculptures. Cycle the rural roads in the Sigiriya area, passing through villages and paddy fields. Climb to the top of the Rock Fortress for a spectacular panorama of the surrounding jungle.

Depart Sigiriya for Matale, travelling first to the well-preserved Dambulla Cave Temples, dating from the 1st-century BC, and containing some of the country's most iconic and evocative examples of religious art. Visit a private spice garden to learn about the great variety of spices grown here followed by a delicious traditional lunch served in the paddy fields. Enjoy a two-night stay on the edge of the gorgeous Knuckles Mountain Range, named for its uncanny likeness to human knuckles and home to stunning hiking trails. This hiker’s paradise offers a number of hiking trails from moderate to challenging. Your guide will help you select the right experience
