With camels against the backdrop of Thar desert, glistening sand dunes and colourful turbans Jaisalmer is an Arabian nights fantasy come true. Also known as the Golden City, the historic ruins of the Jaisalmer Fort, is the second oldest inRajasthan. As you wander through the fort, you can catch a glimpse of the local culture in the winding lanes and get lost in the maze of temples that surround the fort.
Featured in theJames Bond movie Octopussy (1983), City Palace in Udaipur is the largest of its kind in Rajasthan. Its vast complex was built over a span of 400 years, starting in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh 11. From here you can soak in the breathtaking views of the lake and many other notable architectural treasures.
