From an organic farmer to a naturalist and a founder of a village school, the story of Bhim Singh Rana of Bahnera, is an inspiring tale of how one man’s dream can take charge of their destiny.
“To stay close to nature I started organic farming, so that other farmers are encouraged to do the same and they can grow within this field," says Bhim Singh Rana, the enterprising multi-talented farmer of Bahnera village.
Bahnera is a small village located in Bharatpur in Rajasthan. Rana’s family were the founder of this village and over the years his vast knowledge in farming has given him opportunities to now grow asparagus, broccoli and other vegetables while being at the forefront of organic farming.
As we say when opportunity knocks your door welcome it with open arms and that is exactly what Bhim Singh Rana did. His curiosity and love to stay close to nature, led him to work as a licensed Naturalist in 2000 at the Keoladeo National Park which is a vast bird sanctuary.
And his knowledge and passion for his job, inspired us to bring him into the Worldwide Adventures Asia family as a nature guide.
Together with Bhim Singh, who also began a local village school in 1997, we are working to give the village children an opportunity to realise their dreams. Access to clean toilets, installing water tanks to provide clean water and sanitation awareness for girls are just some of the ways we contribute to ensure their aspirations are well supported.
“I started my life as a farmer, began a school to uplift the community and as a Naturalist I became a part of the Worldwide Adventures family. I am blessed to work in these three roles,” says the ever smiling Bhim Singh Rana as he shares his journey.
